CHURCH CLEANER

Mrs N. Howells

I hope you and your families are all keeping safe and well in these difficult times. Now the children are back at school or college and many of you have returned to work life is feeling more normal. However, we still have to be very careful out and about and in our own homes to try to follow the ever—changing rules.

If you are finding your life challenging you may like to pop into a church service or link up with some of the Zoom church services that Rev. Jo is leading. You could be surprised how calming and reassuring the experience.

Services are limited and social distancing is in place with masks now being worn. At the last virtual PCC meeting we discussed several IT options to help improve communications. Watch this space. We have changed the pattern of services with Jam Club now on the 1st Sunday and All age family service on 2nd Sunday of the month.

Unfortunately during the recent storms the slates on the north roof of St. Stephen’s were damaged. We now have to fund not only the W.C. project but expensive roof repairs, so some serious fund raising will be required.

The Jam Club Amble on Sunday 6th September was a great success. The weather was beautiful and Benjy, Holly, Jo and Merlin Tinker had carefully marked the route we were to follow from St Stephen’s Carlby to St John’s in Ryhall. Having walked across the fields, the refreshments provided in the Church car park in Essendine were most welcome. The party (socially distanced) moved on to St John’s in Ryhall and finally to the Play Area of the Recreation Field. Here we enjoyed our picnics and had lots of fun on the play equipment. Sponsorship raised about £535.00 for the St John’s Restoration and Renewal Fund. Thank you to everyone who took part and sponsored.
