St Stephen’s Church, Carlby – May 2022

CHURCH FLOWERS May: 1st and 8th Rachel Burt

15th and 22nd Min Cameron

29th Sue Flint

The Easter Celebrations are now almost over, but not quite as we have Ascension Day on the 26th May.

On June 5th we have an all village service for everyone to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

We are also looking forward to the Garden Party in the Old Rectory Gardens where we can sport hats and dresses fit for a Queen. You can be sure to find delicious cakes, music, games and a few stalls, something for all the family, so bring them all along for some old fashioned village fun. We hope you will visit your church over the weekend to see the flower arrangements and the history exhibition to see how the village has changed during the Last 70 years. You may even be in the photos, so check it out!

We continue to think and pray for all the poor people of Ukraine who are suffering such an unjust war. We also pray for the sick and those suffering hardship at present. In light of this all entrances will be free and any profits made from the church activities will go to Ukraine and the Foodbank.

JAM CLUB will take place again in June, open to all 4-13 year olds, in the Village Hall at 10.30. Find out more by contacting Liz Nunn tel 590861.

UPCOMING NEWS: Work is continuing in planning the Garden Party on Saturday 4th June at 2pm and the Historic Exhibition of Carlby, in church along with sumptuous Flower arrangements. There will be lots more activities contributing to the grand village celebration of the Queen’s Platinum anniversary but we rely on volunteers.

Please put yourself forward to help with the church, Parish Council or village hall events so we can make this a really good weekend on 2-5th June. Contact Liz 590861. Please donate cakes for the teas and cake stall and bottles, toiletries, sweets, novelties, etc. for the tombola.
