St. Mary Magdalene’s Church, Essendine – Mar 2021

Greetings from St Mary Magdalene’s Church, Essendine.

I hope you are all well and managing to stay warm and dry. As I write, storm Darcy is with us. The layer of fresh snow looks so beautiful from the comfort of your own home and a joy to the children to play in. It feels for a moment like a comfort blanket protecting us all. The moat around the church is still incredibly high. We are still receiving many flood alerts and busy drying out the church. We have a pair of ducks who have taken up residence on the moat. When I check the church each day, they make me smile.

On the farm the crops are beginning to grow slowly, the linseed is doing well, where it is not under water. The sheep farmers are beginning lambing, it is a lovely sight to see new lambs dancing in the fields but behind the scenes, lambing is a very busy and tiring time.

During this month, we continue our journey through Lent, a time of

reflection, towards the Celebration of Easter which falls on Sunday 7th April.

Please keep warm and be careful in this cold weather, and look out for your friends and neighbours.

To all those who are ill at home or in hospital our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

Church services continue on Zoom for the time being, please contact Rev Jo if you would like to join us.

Annual Parochial Church Council Meeting / Election of Churchwardens. These meetings will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday 29th April 2020 at St Mary’s Church, Essendine.
