St. Mary Magdalene’s Church, Essendine – Feb 2023

I hope you are all well and managing to stay warm. It has been a cold, wet and gloomy January. I’m sure we are all looking forward to the arrival of Spring.

Please keep warm and be careful in this cold weather and look out for your friends and neighbours.

On the farm, everywhere is very muddy, our wellington boots are a must! We are looking forward to being able to get back on the land and watching the crops grow. The Owls in the barns are very noisy at night, so hopefully it will be a good year for the owls. It is a wonderful sight watching them fly along the hedgerows and seeing them perched on the barn roofs.

To all those who are ill at home or in hospital our thoughts and prayers are with you.

FAMILY SERVICE AT ESSENDINE – Sunday 5th February at 10.00am. This is a service of morning prayer led by Katy and Anne. Refreshments will be served after the service. Everyone is very welcome to attend.

HOLY COMMUNION – A service of Holy Communion will take place at St Mary’s Church on Sunday 12th & 26th February at 9.30am. Everyone is very welcome to attend.

The Presentation of Christ in the temple (Candlemas) takes place on the 2nd February. Candlemas is a time to bless all the candles which are to be used in church during the coming year. There is an old rhyme – When Candlemas Day is bright with Sun, Then the winter’s half begun; But when Candlemas Day is dark with rain, Then winter’s power is on the wane.

On a personal note, I would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, prayers and messages of sympathy following the unexpected death of my mother Ruth Reynolds, a very special lady.
