St. John’s Ryhall Restoration & Renewal Plan update – Nov 2020

Michelle and Andrew Nebel have raised £170 with their latest bric-a-brac stall in memory of Ryhall villager Joan Caplan. Many thanks to Joan’s family who donated many of the items and to the Nebels for all their efforts fund-raising for the Church Roof, helped by Betty Edwards and Karen Blake.

We are also very grateful to everyone who has donated via the Collection Box in Ryhall Village Stores. £139.13 was raised towards the cost of roof replacement.

In total, £81,235 has been secured or pledged for which we are extremely grateful. This is very encouraging although we still have a long way to go to meet the £103,000 target to replace the church roof and £300,000 for the total project to also restore and renew the interior. Thank you to all those who have donated to save our church. If you would still like to, then please go to our GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/manage/church- restoration-campaign or send a donation to Rev Jo Saunders revjosaun- ders@live.co.uk. We are very grateful for your support.

A new volunteer group has been formed to maintain the work done in the churchyard and to enhance the site for the use of the wider community as a beautiful, peaceful spot to stay awhile and enjoy. Known as The Church- yard Champions, the group’s work will involve maybe a couple of hours a month for each volunteer. You can get to know your neighbours better and the churchyard will remain cared for, providing a community resource. Our next volunteer day is on Sat 24th October 9-11am. If you’re interested in this or other volunteer days, we would love to hear from you. Contact Rev Jo Saunders.

We are into our final couple of weeks of the St. John’s PCC lottery. Launched in August to raise funds for the R&R campaign, time is running out if you would still like a ticket for your chance to win a beautiful, original painting, kindly donated by award winning, Irish artist, Kathrine Geoghegan. There’s a limit of 100 tickets at £20 each. Email thesandrachap- man@gmail.com for details if you’d like to buy one, or more tickets!

If you have any good fund-raising ideas, please share them, or even better, lead them! Keep up to date with all our news on the St. John’s Church Ryhall Facebook page or the new benefice website coming soon.
