Thank you to all those who have already returned their completed Consultation Survey to help us ensure plans for the future of St. John’s Church reflect our community’s needs and how we as a church can better provide for our community. We would really love to hear from more of you. So please return your form, which was inserted in your April Villages newsletter, to the Ryhall Village Stores, or by email to thesandrachapman@gmail.com by the end of April or ASAP.
We had a wonderful day on Saturday 10th April when 28 Churchyard Champion volunteers worked hard on the flowerbeds and grounds round the church building. Winter decay was cleared, weeds removed, ivy removed and the churchyard set up for a blooming summer, ensuring the gorgeous swathes of spring flowers will be followed by more colour well into autumn. Please visit the churchyard, sit awhile on the benches and enjoy this space that is for all the village and beyond.
Our thanks again to Betty Edwards and all those who donated to Betty’s Challenge to raise funds for the church roof appeal. The village came out in force to celebrate Betty’s final walk for the Challenge, lining the streets and the route through the churchyard blowing whistles, and banging drums and pots. The church bells rang out to thank Betty. Her amazing achievement of raising £4,641 was duly recognised by another spot on BBC. We are so grateful for Betty’s determination to raise funds in all weathers.
Our Restoration & Renewal funds secured/pledged now total £128,260, with £7,000 specified for the re-laying of the paths, leaving a shortfall of almost £9,000 to cover the costs of roof replacement, estimated as £130,000. Incredibly, over £23,000 of the funds has been generously donated or fund-raised. Keep up to date with all our news on the St. John’s Church Ryhall Facebook page. Thank you to all those who have supported fundraising activities or sent donations to save our church. If you would still like to, then please go to our GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/manage/church-restoration-campaign or send a donation to Rev Jo Saunders revjosaunders@live.co.uk. Thank you for your support.
