St. John’s Restoration & Renewal Plan Update – Mar 2022

St. John’s was delighted to recently receive the faculty, providing the final approval needed for the church roof replacement. This was the last piece of the jigsaw that started almost 2 years ago when fund-raising started for St. John’s Restoration & Renewal campaign. We are hugely grateful to the community of Ryhall and further afield who have supported the building project through fund-raising, donations, technical help, prayer and other forms of support. Along with the grants successfully secured, we are finally ready to start restoring Ryhall’s beautiful church building. Please be careful if you are using the churchyard or visiting the church building while work is underway. Any questions or concerns, please contact the responsible PCC member Tom Nottidge on Tel: 07879-886687 or Rev. Jo or the church wardens.

The High Sheriff of Rutland, David Wood and his wife, visited St. John’s Church. They had a tour of the churchyard and were interested to hear of the spiritual, restoration, environmental and community work associated with the church. Thank you to Elspeth Bailey, Mandy Rogers, Sammie Riley and her children, and Chris Gunner for baking a selection of delicious treats and for serving refreshments. A letter of thanks from the High Sheriff has been posted in the church porch.

Thanks to Betty Edwards for organising a raffle for a Christmas hamper and other prizes which has raised £226 for the R&R project.

After many years’ service, the PCC Treasurer, John Saunders, is retiring. We are very grateful and give thanks for John’s service on the church and fete finances and his support and guidance on the Restoration & Renewal campaign. The position of

Treasurer is now vacant and if anyone feels they could help in this capacity, then we would greatly appreciate hearing from them. Contact Rev Jo at
