Betty Edwards just keeps on walking! Betty’s Challenge has now raised over £3,000 with her inspirational ‘Capt. Tom’ style walk fundraiser for St. John’s Church roof! Thank you Betty and also to your granddaughter Jordane who works as support team for the project. If you’d like to support Betty’s efforts, donations can be made via her GoFundMe page at https://gf.me/u/y5g5qn.
As I write this, it is heartening to see scaffolding going up on the church to start work replacing the lower drainpipes and gutters of the church. We are very grateful for a new grant of £11,510 to cover most of the cost of this work which is an important step to preserve the integrity of the building before the main work starts to replace the roof. That cannot start until at least October 2021 as a survey revealed we have two endangered species of bats living in the church so work which might disturb them during the breeding season is prohibit-ed.
The latest grant, together with donations, church reserves and a legacy bring our total campaign funds secured/pledged to al-most £116,500. £109,500 of this is earmarked for the roof replace-ment, leaving a shortfall of ap-proximately £20,500. We are getting close but need a final push to reach our roof appeal target of £130,000. If you have any good fund-raising ideas, please share them, or even better, get involved! Keep up to date with all our news on the St. John’s Church Ryhall Facebook page.
Thank you to all those who have supported fundraising activities or sent donations to save our church. If you would still like to, then please go to our GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/manage/church-restoration-campaign or send a do-nation to Rev Jo Saunders,
email@example.com. We are very grateful for your support.
