Ryhall Academy News – Dec 2021

We are extremely proud of the children from Ryhall CE Academy’s Ethos Council who attended St John’s Church for a special Service of Remembrance, in common with thousands of people across our nation. This followed the whole school marking Armistice Day on Thursday 11th November 2021, led by Reverend Jo.

The Ethos Councillors, Jessica, Harris, Ailish and Orlaith represented the school in showing respect to the servicemen and women who gave their lives for us and our nation, in wars and conflicts. During the service, Councillor Wilby spoke very movingly about the roles his ancestors played in the two world wars and much more distant conflicts, as well as his own role within the RAF during subsequent conflicts. The children were fascinated.

We now look forward to sharing the thoughts from the children on what both his talk, and the service as a whole, meant to them. The children were joined by our newest staff member Miss Watson (Year 2 teacher) who is our school Ethos Lead. Miss Watson shared that it was wonderful to join with the children and others from our wider local community in this act of remembrance and respect. The wreath laid in the church was made by the children in Rockingham Class (Year 2) with thanks to Mrs Want for putting it together. In school, all the classes joined together in creating a beautiful commemorative art work.
