News from the Village of Essendine – Sept 2021

A volunteer to deliver Village Newsletters each month on Bourne Road and Manor Farm Lane (or people willing to divide the round up between them.)

If you could help with this please let Rev Jo know or 07946237223.

LATERAL FLOW TESTING KITS are now available free of charge from

Essendine Post Office, in Glen Crescent. Do pop in if you need one and save yourself unnecessary journeys!

ESSENDINE LUNCHEON CLUB will be restarting from Wednesday 8th

September, after a 17 month break, due to Covid. We hope to welcome back our regular diners. Unfortunately, as a yoga group uses the main hall every Wednesday morning, luncheon will have to be set up in the small hall and this restricts numbers to our regulars only. On the menu will be Leek and Feta cheese flan, with new potatoes and salad, followed by Summer Fruits Pavlova. We are asking our diners to confirm they are attending by phoning Linda Barker on 07707 031848, by Monday 6th September please.

Making Essendine a safer village to live in- during the coming months, we will be working hard on Neighbourhood Watch and Community Speed Watch projects in the village. More details can be found in the Parish Council news-letter that will be put through your door. Please do volunteer to help in some way, to ensure the success of these initiatives.

ESSENDINE VILLAGE HALL is now fully open again and taking bookings for parties and other activities. It is hoped to start a new fitness group in coming months if there is sufficient interest. Other activities have resumed in the hall, including the three weekly yoga groups, Move it or Lose it classes, the Guide and Scout groups, U3A art and photography and of course our luncheon club. Hiring details can be found on our website or by phoning

Adele on 01780 751711 or 07939 132093.

FLYING THE FLAG: if you are having a special event or want to celebrate a birthday or wedding anniversary, we have a flag for you! We ask for a small donation towards hall funds in return and a mention in the village news.

Contact Adele as above.

SUNFLOWER COMPETITION: There are some lovely examples of

sun-flowers growing around the village and these will be being judged around the time of publication. Next month we will announce the winners and put some pictures on the Village Hall website and the Essendine Facebook page.
