News from the Village of Carlby
CARLBY PLAYING FIELD Committee Annual Meeting Thursday 4th November 18.00 – 19.30, Carlby Village Hall ……….. please join us, everyone welcome
As always we would welcome new and additional members to the committee. We have already started thinking about 2022 and we would love anyone with finance and/or social event skills to join the committee. We would like to organise a couple of events for everyone on the Playing Field next year and would love a couple of enthusiastic people, ideally with some experience of events to help us.
Climbing Frame & Slide Project
Great news, we have placed an order for new play equipment. We will be installing a combined climbing frame and slide plus a climbing net unit, pictures of the new equipment can be seen on our Facebook page. The installation date we have been given is February / March next year due to current supply chain challenges but we think it will be well worth the wait to get two pieces of good quality, fun play equipment. We will provide more details in the New Year.
Kids’ Bike Track
The track is now taking shape and work will continue over the coming weeks. It’s great to see it being used by the village children (and some adventurous parents). We now have 3 working trail lines – small tabletops, large tabletops and a berm line. We’ll continue to adjust these as we go along to maximise fun and
‘flow’. Please always wear a helmet when riding. Wildflower seeds will be arriving this week and will be sown onto the sides of many of the features – these should start coming into flower next spring.
Playing Field Planting
A Yew hedge has been planted at the entrance to the bowls club car park to replace the boulders which were falling apart. Many thanks to Hugh Nunn for advising and sourcing the hedging plants and to Dan Pope for helping to dig the holes! We are also looking into planting a few more native trees around the playing field to
encourage in more wildlife and to provide some dappled shade for children using the play equipment.
