CARLBY BOWLS CLUB: The Bowls Club re-opened at the beginning of May but, with league matches though the month cancelled, a series of matches took place
between the two Club Teams (Corgis and Bees) on Mondays and Fridays. Club social play continued on Thursday evenings. The membership remains nearly the same as last year, despite so little bowls played. Much work on the green and surrounds by Members has kept the club premises in good order. Hopefully in July the Stamford and District League will restart as a shortened competition playing through to early September and life will feel more post Covid. New Members still very welcome and information can be obtained from Roger Shead on 0750 3555123 or on email at rogersshead@gmail.com

CARLBY PLAYING FIELD: With the lockdown easing, we are looking forward to everyone being able to enjoy the Playing Field with family and friends and are planning more improvements.
Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback via Facebook on the idea of a small bike track at the back of the Playing Field. We appreciate all the views added, along with the offers of help, should the plans go ahead. Adding this to the Playing Field is something we can do with time and effort rather than money.
A number of comments we have received highlighted the desire for more play equip-ment for younger children, namely a slide and climbing frame. This is something we have already started working on but this does require significant investment to provide a long lasting, safe solution.
We have teamed up with Calor and will be launching fundraising via crowdfunding on 9th June. Whilst we will continue to negotiate prices, where we can, we need to raise £12,000 to provide and install a combined climbing frame and slide from the current supplier. The crowdfunding with Calor will enable donations from the local community, as well as their friends and family, take advantage of Gift Aid from the government and, depending on the level we raise, enable us to apply for additional funding of £5,000 from Calor.
We will be promoting the crowdfunding via Facebook, leaflets and would welcome any company sponsorship. Please let us know on 07904 098005 if you have any con-tacts you think could help us raise any funds, we need all the help we can get!
We would love to achieve some, or all, of the above in 2021.
