News from the Village of Carlby – July 2021

Carlby and District WI Meeting

Joint meeting with Witham on the Hill, Tuesday 13th July 2021 at 7.30pm, via Zoom.

Our speaker is Steve Seabrook, a retired Police Inspector, who will be giving us a talk on Missing Persons. Learn how the Police work and what happens when you call them.

If you would like to join the meeting as a guest, please email Sue at mervynandsue@gmail.com and she will send you the joining details.

CARLBY VILLAGE HALL: The Village Hall has had a risk assessment carried out and, with several adjustments with hand sanitisers etc, is available

for hire and is currently being used by two groups. However, in view of the uncertainty of the current Covid situation, we are not planning to hold our monthly pub/quiz nights until at least September, when we hope to get back to business as usual!

CARLBY PLAYING FIELD: THANK YOU to everyone who has donated money towards adding a climbing frame & slide to the Playing Field via our Crowdfunding page

https://communityfund.calor.co.uk/carlby-playing-field-climbing-frame-slide

This does require significant investment to provide a long lasting, safe solution and we would love to achieve this in 2021. The Playing Field Committee are also actively applying for any grants to help, but there are lots of other good causes doing the same.

We would really appreciate any company sponsorship. Please let us know on 07904 098005 if you have any contacts you think could help us raise funds, we need all the help we can get!

Following the support and feedback on Facebook, options for a small bike track at the top end of the Playing Field have been progressed, before sharing the final proposal.

We have been providing updates via leaflets, posters and on Facebook and will continue to let you know how the fundraising and bike track plans are progressing.

Hope everyone is enjoying the improvements made to the Playing Field over the last year and we have a sunny summer.
