News from the Village of Carlby Dec 2022

The Carlby Kofukan Karate Club practices an old traditional form of karate in the style of Shito-Ryu. We practice Kata and fighting techniques for gradings and competitions under the instruction of Nigel Parsons 5th Dan blackbelt. We hold a mixed session of children and adults every Monday at Carlby Village Hall Monday 6-30pm to 8-30pm. Please contact:- Nigel on 07802 223388 or

Some may have noticed that vandalism has returned to our village, with the Church notice board glass smashed and 7 dog poo signs ripped off and destroyed.

Vandalism at a cost to church funds and the Parish Council for which we all pay.

The Parish Council, in responding to residents’ complaints of an increasing problem, has attempted to increase awareness of dog poo being left and not cleared up, having extra signs and a poster competition by children, with new bins in and around the Parish.

It is an offence to leave dog poo on any public foot path. Having new signs ripped off by vandals or some vindictive dog owner and dog walkers who consider it acceptable to leave dog poo on our footpaths is unacceptable vandalism, impacting on a caring village community.

Increasing amounts of dog poo are now being left in the playing field which can have serious health consequences if young children happen to get unknowingly contaminated. Bagged dog poo posted in the royal mail post box! Why does anyone consider this acceptable?

We ask all sensible and caring dog owners to look out for wayward dog walkers and report fouling via the SKDC web site. We all want to keep our village safe and pleasant for us all.

Carlby Parish Council now has a full 7 Parish Seats: John Bavister (chair), Pete Holland (Vice chair), Ian Dair, Angela Cardew, Ben Haines, Sue Rob-inson and Lesley Sweeting.

Date of future Parish Council meetings at 19:30 in the Village Hall are: 2023: 17 Jan, 21 Mar, 17 May, 18 Jul, Wed 13 September, 21 Nov.

All residents of Carlby are welcome to the meetings. We encourage you to attend to keep in touch. Agendas for meetings are available 3 clear days before the meeting date on the website, on the noticeboard (on the side of the village hall) and by request by email from the Clerk E:

Finally Carlby Parish Council wishes all residents a very Merry Christma s and a peaceful and healthy 2023
